Oscar and Ella win gold at the Smiley Charity Film Awards

The Elizabeth Foundation is celebrating the success of its ‘Meet Oscar and Ella‘film at the prestigious Smiley Charity Film Awards 2025. Our film won the Gold People’s Choice Award in our income category.

Top award for our film at the “Charity Oscars”

We are thrilled to announce that our ‘Meet Oscar and Ella’ film won Gold in the People’s Choice vote for the £1-2.5 million income category in the Smiley Charity Film Awards 2025. These prestigious annual awards – known as the “Charity Oscars” – celebrate and recognise the impact of charity film-making.

We received our trophy at the Awards Ceremony on 20 March 2025. TV personality Lisa Snowdon hosted the event that took place at the Indigo at the O2 in London.

The People’s Choice Award was based on the number of votes the film received from members of the public – and we received the highest number of votes in our category. This Gold Award builds on our success from last year, when our ‘Daisy’s story’ film won a People’s Choice Silver Award and also a Judges’ Bronze Award in our income category.

Thank you to everyone who supported us by voting for the film. And, of course, a massive THANK YOU goes to Oscar and Ella – the amazing stars of our film.

About our award-winning film

“Meet Oscar and Ella” is a 4½ minute video about two thriving and talkative four year olds. Both children were born profoundly deaf but learned to listen and talk at The Elizabeth Foundation, before leaving to start school in September 2024.

Our Digital Media Manager, Howard Hurd directed, filmed and edited this film in-house – with invaluable assistance from Oscar as GoPro operator!
