We are developing an innovative, accredited training programme for professionals working with young deaf children and those supporting listening and language development in early years settings.
This work builds on our Let’s Listen and Talk approach and represents a major step forward in making evidence-based practice more widely accessible.

What we are working towards
Early listening and language development is critical for every child’s future. Yet many professionals tell us they need more specialist and practical training informed by the latest research — particularly when supporting deaf children.
Our programme aims to close this gap, combining our expertise in early intervention with accessible, high-quality learning. Over the next three years, we will be creating:
Accessible training for early years practitioners
- Practical, evidence-based strategies to support listening and language development in everyday early years environments.
Specialist accredited training for professionals
- A deeper, structured programme for those working with deaf babies and young children—designed to strengthen knowledge, confidence and skills in an area not widely covered in existing training routes.

Student and trainee placements
We are committed to developing the next generation of specialists by providing access to high-value learning experiences tailored to the specific needs of the students and trainees, whether they be brand new in their field or are long term professionals. Depending on availability and demand, we can offer placements for: Teachers of the Deaf | Speech and Language Therapists | Psychology students | NVQ 3 students.
Evidence-based resources
We have developed a new resource hub on our Let’s Listen and Talk website.
It provides a wide range of evidence-based information and advice about helping children with all degrees of deafness learn to communicate during their preschool years.
