Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteers Awards 2019

Long-standing volunteer Kate Bowerman is one of our Classroom Volunteers, assisting our teaching team with a wide range of activities, as well as often helping out at our various fundraising events at our Family Centre in Cosham.

Kate was nominated for the Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards 2019, and at the ceremony at Portsmouth Guildhall on 22 May 2019 she received a Commendation in the Education and Mentoring Category.

This award reflects Kate’s many years of dedicated volunteering at The Elizabeth Foundation where she has become a vital part of our team. You can read more about Kate’s story on her profile page.

Recognising our volunteers’ invaluable contributions

Alongside The Elizabeth Foundation’s skilled and experienced staff team, we depend on volunteers to help us provide our services for young deaf children. Using volunteers in this ways means we are able to achieve the maximum impact with the income we have available.

Our volunteers help us in a wide range of ways – from assisting in the classrooms and making teaching resources to providing fundraising and administrative support.

Many of our volunteers are able to commit time on a regular basis, whilst others donate their time to support specific fundraising events (such as our summer fayre and Christmas bazaar). All members of our Board of Trustees are also volunteers.
