Working as a team to provide the best support for every deaf child
At The Elizabeth Foundation we believe that to fully support all deaf children it is vitally important to work in partnership and in parallel with other organisations and the many professionals involved with every deaf child.
We strive to support professionals including:
- Teachers of the Deaf
- Educational Psychologists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Health Visitors
- Family doctors / GPs
When requested and when possible we contribute to Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings and also to Statements of Special Educational Need.
Finding out about our work
We welcome professionals from local health and education authorities to visit by appointment - both to find out about The Elizabeth Foundation's services and to discuss relevant issues regarding early diagnosis, early support and early intervention.
Supporting the professionals of the future
We also welcome speech and language, medical and teaching students and trainees to visit to come and learn about our services - we hold regular group sessions for students.
We also provide placements when appropriate for trainee Teachers of the Deaf and Speech and Language Therapy students with a particular interest in the effects of deafness on speech and language development.
We are also keen to work in partnership with any researchers looking to investigate the impact of deafness on early years development.
Professionals' Days - 21 Feb and 16 May 2023
On Tuesday 21 February 2023 and Tuesday 16 May 2023 we will be running Professionals’ Days for up to 10 people. Each day will run from 10:00 – 12:30, for a visit that will include a presentation about the work of the charity, with information about our many partnerships, as well as a tour of the test facility and observations of our nursery sessions in the family centre.
